The Style Eagle is one of the oldest traditional wushu styles. The traditional term for this style is Zhao Ying Pai = 鷹爪 派 = Eagle Claw, but in modern wushu is simply known as Ying Quan = = 鷹 拳 Fist Style Eagle or Eagle. The Style Eagle is an external style known for its grappling techniques, locks, his punches in pressure points, etc. However, there are also modern forms Eagle Style used for shows and competitions. Modern forms look better and take more acrobatic jumps and runs.

The downside of the modern style of the Eagle Claw is that many traditional applications are lost. In China, most young athletes learn first modern forms, and only as adults, if they are specializing in the eagle style, learning applications and traditional forms. The reason for this is that young athletes are more agile and have more fun doing acrobatic jumps and kicks.
